TIME FOR A CUPPA AND A NEW PAIR OF SOCKS

I had worn a hole in the heel of my socks on the walk.  And whaddya know, someone had left a new pair on the railing.

The last time this happened to me was in Switzerland in the 70’s when I was hitching around, wearing out socks.  A tractor went past and a pair of replacement socks dropped off, just at the right moment.

Instantly I realised everything is connected to everything else, just like the buddhists have been telling us.  (At least in the sock department)

  1. yet another comment that had me chortling++ …… and yet salvaging stuff is remarkably memorable (and satisfying) eg the plastic bread crate floating around near ullapool many years ago which we rescued and took home – cos ideal for a dog’s basket!

  2. Wonderful, that’s exactly how I procure gloves and often one at a time, amazingly it all works out…love those Buddhists! Lizzie gives me a hard time when I’ve used this approach with those little ear plugs!

    • I do gloves like that too. And the occasional tool. In fact if you’ve got time to stop and go back you can pick up all sorts of goodies. Excluding dead animals (I used to do that if I hit the wallaby or whatever, but then I heard about a guy who got tularemia from roadkill because the animal was too sick to get out of the way of the car. So now I prefer butchers shops). However I don’t reckon I’d get little earplugs that way – I’m on LIzzie’s side there. Nor underpants.
