Assuming you have written a draft of some essay or assignment, and you want to edit it – here’s how to edit it quickly and painlessly.

The process is very easy, because you aren’t doing anything difficult at each stage.

1) Print out the draft.

2) Sit down comfortably with a pencil and write on the draft – scratch things out, add things, chop it aroun etc.  (Get a friend to help in the later stages – early on best do it yourself).

3) Go back to the computer and type in your corrections.

4) Repeat until it makes sense.

When you are very practiced, you can edit directly on the screen, but to start with it’s far easier to break it down into two simple stages.  Actually, after years of doing this, I still do it that way.
