MUD BUBBLES

I just love these bubbling mud springs.

For those who are interested the mud is caused by the spring water being very acid, thus dissolving the rock surrounding the liquid.  The result is an extremely fine suspended solution of rock particles which, at the right concentration supports bubbles.

Which is all nice and factual, but me, I like to just watch them bubble.  Catching the bubbles with high-speed photographs allows me to see what shapes the bubbles take.

Beautiful, aren’t they?
